At the beginning of last month, I went to Destin, Florida to help my sister (owner of Paula Baldwin Photography) with a destination wedding. I love second shooting weddings with my fellow colleagues, and especially my sister – we always have a fun time! Anyways, I want to touch on a few points for brides that aren’t quite sure if they want to add a second photographer into their package.
- If it’s just me shooting your event, you’re still going to get stellar coverage, but I can’t be in two places at once. – two recent weddings that I was the only photographer didn’t understand why I had to leave bride / bridesmaids / father to get set up to capture the wedding party coming down the aisle. With a second photographer, either myself, or the other photographer will stay with the bride to capture those sweet, emotional shots of the bride & her daddy just before they begin the walk down the aisle – THESE ARE ALWAYS MY FAVORITES!!!
- Many different angles are captured. At the wedding I shot with my sister in Destin – while she was capturing the standard cake cutting shots, I captured from their prespective (of course out of the way of the primary photographer).
- Makes group formals go much smoother & quicker. At a recent wedding I shot with my friend, Sarah Kelley, as she was shooting formals, I got everyone into position, and rounded up people for the next photo. The quicker we get those images done, the sooner we can get to the PARTY!!
Those are just a few of the reasons that I recommend a 2nd shooter be added to your package. And since a post just isn’t a proper post without photos, here are some images from the wedding in Destin, Florida! Thanks, Paula for having me join you to capture such a beautiful day!

Since the guys weren't ready, I snagged a few detail shots while Paula was capturing the bride getting dolled up.

I love getting ready shots - bride & groom!

This is an example of what I said about me staying with the bride - Paula was capturing the entrance of the bridal party.

While Paula was covering close to the couple, I hung back to get overall images & the couple as they came back up the aisle.

Again - different angles / perspectives than what Paula was photographing.
Til next time . . . xxooxxoo ~ Robin
