It all started back in the Spring of 2010, when Sarah’s sister suggested she start running again to relieve some work stress. Candace also suggested that they train to run a half marathon. Sarah’s first thought, “Is she nuts?”, but figured it wouldn’t hurt to give it a try. Sarah started running with her brother, and they joined Runnersworld.com to find a program to train with. Neither, she nor Jason knew what type of strength training they were supposed to be doing . . . so in August, she started digging around on Runnersworld.com & found something called THE LOOP. She began reading through posts, and found one that looked like it was something that would help them. The picture on the post was a very small (possibly smaller than 1″x1″) photo of two guys – one tall & one shorter. She liked the stance of the shorter of the two – he looked confident. She decided to post to his thread with a question, and he agreed to help her with a strength training program. Jon also agreed to keep up with her progress (to keep her accountable).
Jon told Sarah that he was a Ranger, and was deployed at the time, but couldn’t say where. They began a friendship through emails, and at first it was all about running & races, but then became more about themselves. They made plans to meet finally in November 2010. And that was the start of their long-distance dating, while she lived in Baton Rouge, and he in Savannah, GA. They became engaged after dating for 6 months, and the rest is history.
Sarah & Jon had a full mass ceremony at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Ponchatoula, with a reception following at Knights of Columbus Hall in Ponchatoula.
