{kelly & matt: destination wedding}

Kelly & Matt tied the knot on a beautiful day in May at the Hilton Clearwater Beach (Florida). I’m so upset that I wasn’t able to shoot this one myself, and Amanda got to have all the fun with this fun-loving, partying group!!

{hospital, yet again}

Well, I just wanted to post another update for everyone again!  Sunday night was horrible for Frank - was in alot of pain, couldn’t sleep, etc.  During the night I notice he had a lot of “pus-like” drainage from the incision.  We saw Dr. Ross yesterday morning in between his cases - he readmitted Frank to the hospital for IV-Vancomycin . . . he thinks it could be staph, so he’s treating it like it is!  So, we are still here in Houston - I drove David home to my mom’s yesterday, and drove back in this morning . . . just made it back here a few minutes ago.

So, please continue to keep my hubby in your prayers!  I really do appreciate it!!

{another update}

Just wanted to get on to give everyone a quick update.  We are still in Houston.  Frank was discharged from the hospital yesterday, but Dr. Ross wanted us to stay around for the weekend & see him Monday morning for him to take a peek at the incision before giving us the go-ahead to head back home!  Problem we are having is that the tumor was so big - he said it was the size of a watermelon, and instead of just being under the skin, was embedding itself into the skin & muscle, deep tissue.  Alot of skin & tissue had to be removed, so it was very hard closing up the incision.  The incision keeps coming open & making the Jackson Pratt drains stop working like they should.  Dr. Ross will make a decision on Monday as to leave it as it is, or open the incision back up & insert a wound-vac.  If he decides on the latter, we’ll be in Houston for a little longer.  I’m really hoping he gives us the okay to go back home!!!  There’s no place like home, there’s no place like home . . . I’m just missing the ruby slippers!  LOL.

I have 3 weddings to edit upon returning home: 1.) Kelly & Matt’s    2.) Katie & Beau’s   3.) Lindsay & Nick’s . . . I will also plunge back into album design again.  David & I will be traveling to Puerto Rico on 6/25 to photograph Jamie & Michael’s destination wedding in Old San Juan.

Keep us in your prayers please!

{first hurdle cleared}

WOW, I am so happy to report that our first of many hurdles have been cleared.  Frank went through surgery last night amazingly well!!!  Talk about torture - he wasn’t out of surgery until a little after 10pm last night.  Dr. Ross, the surgical oncologist, said he did really well, but the Merkel Cell Carcinoma tumor was much larger than he had originally expected.  His incision is pretty large - goes just about the width of his back, and just under the left arm.  Good thing is, they did not have to do a skin graft like he said would probably need to be done!!! Small miracles, I tell ya!  He did have to remove some suspicious looking lymph nodes from under the left arm after reviewing the images of the mapping done with radioactive isotope tracers yesterday morning.  We won’t have the pathology reports back on those for about a week.

He was admited to Post-Anesthesia ICU last night, and remained there until about 8:30 tonight when they moved him to a regular room.  He is still in a considerable amount of pain, which they are trying to get ahold of with the use of a pain med pump.  The drainage tubes in the tumor site, are not working properly, to pull the excessive blood / fluid away from the area, so they have to do something with it tomorrow to make it work - I’m really not sure how extensive that will be since I had left to bring my family back to the hotel during the time that the doctor made his rounds again this evening.  That figures . . .

As of right now, we are being told that he probably will not be released until at least Thursday if everything is going fine.  I will update everyone later on.

Be blessed . . .

{the agony of waiting}

It’s 7:30 pm & I’m still sitting here in the surgery waiting room waiting on word from my husbands doctor.  I absolutely hate waiting - I’m a very impatient person when it comes to doctors / hospitals, etc.  It has been such a long day already . . . we’ve been here since 8 am this morning.  My mom added a little humor to our day when she managed to get lost & 4 of us had to go look for her.  Definetely got my mind off of things for a few minutes!!!

I will try to post an update later tonight when we make it back to the hotel.

{kelly & matt}

Kelly & Matt were married at the end of May in Clearwater Beach, Florida.  I was orginally commissioned to shoot their wedding, but due to having to be at MD Anderson with my husband, my wonderful friend - Amanda Meyer shot in my place.  I just got the raw files from her to edit, but wanted to share these two from the day before session!

{so thankful for great friends}

The title says it all . . . we (Frank & I) have some really AWESOME friends supporting us. His co-workers (Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office) have been such a great support system to the both of us since he was diagnosed with cancer. All the traveling back & forth to Houston has been really hard, financially. His captain, our good friend - Don Alexander, organized a fundraiser to help with some of the expenses!! Tomorrow is the day of the fundraiser & if you happen to come by the courthouse annex to pick up a spagetti dinner - please come say hi to us.  Frank, David & I will be up there for a little while (as long as he’s feeling okay).  We are just really greatful to all the people that worked so hard to make this a success . . . we love each & everyone of you!!!

I’d also like to thank the wonderful people in our community that has helped make this a success as well! I tell ya, the people of Tangipahoa really do help one another out when needed!!

THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!!

We love yall . . .

Robin, Frank & David
