Q. How long have you been photographing weddings? A. I began photographing weddings in 1999, when I was still shooting film. In 2003, I migrated over to the digital world & LOVE IT!!!!!
Q. Did you go to school for photography? A. No, photography has always been a hobby of mine since childhood. I began learning everything I could about the craft in the early to mid-ninety’s before EVER taking a paying client. I was shooting for approximately 9 years before I began taking paying clients or shot my first wedding in 1999. Even though I proclaim to be a self-taught photographer, I am an active member of PPA (Professional Photographers of America), and attend continuing education classes / workshops whenever I possibly can. I feel that there is always room to grow, and new things to learn.
Q. What is the process once you photograph a wedding? A. Once I’m home from your wedding, I will download my cards & back them up for safe keeping. Then you are placed into my production que —–> I edit everything in the order it was photographed, so depending on the time of year I may have some things to finish before starting on yours (I do keep you posted on what I have to finish up on before beginning your wedding). Once I am on your event / session, I will cull through & edit for color / clarity / tonal ranges. After I’m done editing, you’ll have a good selection of color & blk / white images to choose from. Weddings are posted on our online proofing site for a period of 3 months. For sessions, you will have a viewing / ordering session once editing is completed.
Q. What do you consider your style to be? A. I consider my style to be reportage / documentary. I shoot very few formal / traditional images during the course of a wedding. If this is something you are looking for, I’d be happy to refer you to a more traditional photographer.
Q. How long before I get to see my wedding images? A. Final edited gallery of wedding images is usually ready within 4-6 weeks of your event date. If it looks like I’m running behind, I will keep you posted. However, I do try to to get a quick blog post up within a few days of your wedding to give you a little tease.
Q. I have purchased an album, what is the process to complete it? A. You need to get me a list of your favorite 40-60 images that are must haves in the album – I will then design around that. If you need more time than available on the gallery, please let me know & I’ll extend your gallery for a while longer.
